Just finished the design I made for the entrance gates of the studio of Akihiko Izukura, the textile artist who lives and works in Kyoto. He asked me some time ago to come up with an idea for his studio entrance. He is famous for his textile objects and weaving of natural dyed textiles. He recently also started to weave bags and other objects using stainless-steel wires, so this gave me the idea to make forms or shapes that can be observed in the movements of his textile objects in the wind. Inside these basic shapes, I welded a pattern of smaller diameter stainless steel rods with the purpose to create a base for weaving with stainless steel wires of different diameters.
